You know I need it, much closer

Was soll ich sagen?
Everytime I go to the lab, I'm really looking forward to it, sometimes I doubt the film will be good and I'm always surprised byforgotten pictures. But if your doubts turn out to be true, well, is there anything more disappointing?
I went to the lab to pick up a Fomapan, exposed in my beloved Zenit and there was nothing on the film - nothing, not even bits of light! This is not only disappoting, this is unbelievably frustrating! Especially because I deeply love black-and-white films. And anyway it's hardest for me, to expose a whole film in an analogue SLR, because it simply takes more concentration and consideration to take a shot.
Usually I think it's my fault, if a film turns out that bad, especially because I had like 68761368359 films, I actually ripped, under-/overexposed etc., but this time, I'm quite sure, this was not my fault. A while ago, I brought another Fomapan (exposed in a different camera) to the lab and also got not a single image. Maybe it's the lab (even though they usually do everything right).Maybe it's the film. I got no idea. I find it very frustrating anyway, to get not even one exposure from a film.
So, enough talking about disappointing films, here's something colorful, joyful - good ol' double exposure madness (not failed this time!).

I actually like this rotation best

Nobody knows how to talk to children

One of my favorite blogs is Mary Robinson's blogs A photo diary
Whatever she does, it looks great. As far as I know, she photographs mainly with a Canon AE-1 Programm (or something similar) . And I read some good reviews on that camera, therefore I looked for one at eBay and got a pretty cheap one with two extra lenses. :)
The main advantage of this camera is the lightning meter, so you don't make your casual 10+ incorrectly exposed images. But this does also mean, the camera works so perfectly with color negative film, you could actually mistake the photographs for digital ones. :D Using Tungsten film makes everything look more interesting...

I like to keep some things to myself

Sometimes I'm so very lucky that my stuff breaks or simply stops to work. Also my Instant Back refused to work after some films and only ejected like 2 of 10 images - and if you consider the average price of an instant film, this is not even kind of funny. I've sent the Instant Back to Vienna and a few days later I had a new one and a wide range of instant film for free, Lomography gave me as an apologize! :)
I couldn't resist and instantly shot a whole package...

I'll just post these three, they look all too similar. ;)

Where do bad folks go when they die

The most fascinating about analogue photography is, that your possibilities seem unlimited and therefore analgoue photography never is boring. But after 8364923374 color negative films, analogue photography can become quite monotonous. But it doesn't take a lot, to have more fun with film again. I'm thinking about double exposures! Double exposures are just as simple as effective. The overall idea of a double exposure is, to photograph twice on the same frame, instead of winding the film forward. And ta-dah, magic becomes visible in your images!
The first image shows, what a great photographer can produce!
I tried - also inspired by Takeshi Suga - another form of double exposures. The main idea of this form is, to build up a texture by the first exposure, so your casual images look more interesting.
I prepared films with galaxy shots, rewinded them and exposed them for the second time. Even though the first exposure was too light, the basic idea was visible.
How to do that? Look at the end of the page for more information. :)

Dieses Bild stammt nicht von mir! Dieses Bild stammt von dogma!
This is not my image! This picture was shot by dogma!

This is my header, this is the best exposure I got so far

This was my trial on a similar effect to Takeshi Suga's images. The colors are far too bright. I'm still working on this, yes...
Same problem, different image.
I think this one also torn out amazing. I guess I exposed the film first with a shutter speed of 1/60

Und so geht's:

Du brauchst:
Farbnegativfilm deiner Wahl (Ich habe Lomography CN 100 35mm benutzt)

Soweit, so gut.

How to get doubles with texture:

You need:
Color negative film of your choice (I used Lomography CN 100 35mm)
An analogue camera
A computer/notebook with a flat screen
Some images, you want to see on your film (search for galaxy, bokeh, color, nebula via Google)
Optional: A tripod

Settings on your camera:
I've exposed my film too much with these images - I used an aperture of f/2.8, combined with a shutter speed of 1/60 or 1/30. This is the ideal exposure for a film with 100 ISO - but not, if I want to do doubles. I want doubles, so I suggest a aperture of f/2.8 and a shutter speed of maybe 1/125 or 1/250. When I've found the perfect setting, I'll let you know.
If you can choose an ISO-setting on your camera, everything is easier! Just set the ISO twice as much as your film does have. So you set it on 100, when your film has 50, 200, when your film has 100 etc. I think it's quite handy to use again the 'twice-as-actually' ISO-setting when doing the second exposure.
For a toy camera: Select the widest aperture possible (that means "cloud") and use the standard shutter speed (N) or expose your film a bit longer (select (B) and open the shutter a bit longer - but take care, I'm talking about millisecs!)

Take your color negative film and load it in your camera. Use an analogue camera with an adequate rangefinder or you possibly end up with half starry images as I did.
Mark your film with a permanent marker, so you know, how you loaded it the first time. I do make a very thick line where the film comes out of the canister. I've never had troubles when giving such films to my lab, so don't mind. Often I note what I photographed on the first layer - so if it's a starry film or color-bokeh-thing.
Close your camera, wind your film (blank exposure, my dears!)
Put your camera on your tripod and place it in front of your computer/notebook. Look through the rangefinder and check, if the exposure of your screen is correctly.

Here we go.
Open the first image, you want to expose and select full screen. (Make a slide show or save all images in one folder, so you can just click through.)
You can turn off the lights now. Cover all other light sources, such as lights on your computer. Make your first exposure.
Wind the film, make the next exposure until your whole film is exposed. Now you can turn off all sources of light and rewind your film manually.
If your room is not dark enough, use a film changing bag or simply put a blanket over your camera and film. Take care to not touch the light sensitive side of your film!
Wind the film carefully, so you do not rewind the film leader. You need that to do doubles!

That's all the magic about it! Have fun!

Color my life with the chaos of trouble

Lomography released a Tungsten film, which shows pink-purple-blue results, but my first results with flash at night weren't too good - but at daytime slightly overexposed, I like the film!

I like how these two night shots turned out though. It kind of has a touch of orangy pink, I think.

But to die by your side

I'm totally amazed by all the clicks and shares I got today! :)
Here's a Kodak Prof BW 400 CN 35mm my brother gave me for Christmas. The film gets developed in C-41, which is a great thing - maybe not everyone knows what that means, so... C-41 is the regular development for color negativ film and therefore the cheapest development. Black-and-white film can be quite expensive, so this film can save on development costs. But this film tends to show a touch of pink or green and anyone who ever shot Lady Grey, will love that Lady til the end of time.

That was so cute! I ordered  a tripod and left the box on the floor and our little kitty took a nap on it. I don't know why, but cats really love boxes. They sleep in them, lie in them, smell them... That's kinda weird.

Unfortuantely out of focus

Again out of focus.

You got the love I need to see me through

Florence + the machine - You've got the love
I think everyone knows that song (hope so). Florence + the machine - You've got the love
I've tried a Kodak Ektachrome here. Lovely effectfilm, I think, but hard to find anywhere, especially as Kodak got out of business! As far as I know, the German affilated firm is not directely affected - but that doesn't mean film production will increase. :( I've only found that film as unavailable product online. I'd love to have another roll as I had loads of underexposed images. Huh, c'est la vie.

I like that one a lot. More an accidental than a planned shot.

Made my eyes burn

I already talked about Lomography Lady Grey and this was the second roll I shot. I know I'm repeating myself, but I think this film is fantastic!

Took this with self-timer of my Zenit. Worked surprisingly well!

I took the next pictures at a certain Christmas market, which is set up in the forest and how can I put this?! This place was totally magical. Little children ran around, dressed up as creatures from fairytales and you got food on every other corner and the put up a huge lightning ball. Yes that was an amazing experience! Also a guy asked me where the hell I found my camera :D

You can find a painting under "Yes I paint", that was inspired by that shot.
